RaceMT's Great Falls Trail Series....
All events will occur in and around Great falls. It will be a points based system with points awarded for each of the 5 events. You must participate in all 5 races to be eligible for the prizes at the conclusion of the series. T-Shirts will be distributed to those who complete all 5. There is a 100 participant limit per event. All races start at 8am. Total cost of the whole series is $50. Each individual event will be $15.
April 28 - Squirrels in the Park - Wadsworth Park:
4.8 Miles (3 loops around the lake) /

From parking area,
at Wadsworth Park Lake, runners will make 3 counterclockwise loops.
Scenic, non-technical single track for 3/4 of the run. The rest of the run
is on graveled road. Beautiful view of the lake, foliage and water fowl.
Allow 10 minutes to reach the park from Great Falls. Parking is limited so
car pooling is recommended
May 26th - Fly'n Squirrels - Fish, Wildlife & Parks:

Race starts within the park area directly across from Giant Springs on south side of Giant Springs road. Run out towards Rainbow Dam and turn around near railroad
trestles. This is an out and back with short loop at the turn around.
60% flat and fast. 3 steep climbs that are somewhat technical. Great
views of the Missouri River. After the race you can enjoy Giant Springs
Park and Fish Hatchery as well as the Interpretive Center. Located on the
outskirts of Great Falls (near Malmstrom AFB) with plenty of parking.
July 14th - Ground n Pound Squirrels - Ryan Dam Trail Head:

Race starts at the Ryan Dam trail head access on the North Shore. The
first 200 meters of this race is on a wide graveled walking path. From
there, it is all single track. Technical sections with rolling ascents and
descents . There is a long climb at about half way. This is an
absolutely breathtaking run. 1st section overlooks the canyon walls of the
Missouri River. There is every kind of water fowl, bird of prey along with
other kinds of wildlife. Jagged rocks and outcroppings frame the view.
Allow 20 minutes to reach the trailhead, north of Great Falls. Paved road
all the way to trailhead but it is uneven and narrow. Carpooling is
suggested as parking is limited.
August 11th - Squirrel Mayhem - Lewis & Clark Overlook:

Race starts at trail head of Lewis & Clark Overlook which overlooks Rainbow Dam or Rainbow Falls. First several hundred
meters of race is on paved bike/walking path. You will then be diverted to
single track on which you will remain to your right when the trail splits, until
you reach Cochran Dam. This is the turn around point. From Cochran
dam, you will again remain to your right and for half of the distance back you
will be on a new trail named Mayhem. This section is very technical with
lots of descents and climbs. The views of the falls, river and canyon
walls are spectacular. Parking is limited, carpooling is suggested.
September 29th - Squirrels Gone Nutz - Morony Dam Trail Head:

This trail head is located near Morony Dam. It is at the Sulphur Springs
trail head. The race will begin down near the dam and run back up towards
the trailhead. At that point, you will access the entry to the North Shore
trail that heads toward Ryan Dam. This trail has plenty of rolling hills
with many views of the river and canyon walls. You will stay to your left
following the trail that stays along the river until you reach the Ryan Dam trail head. At that point
you are half way. From there you will take a right heading up onto the
prairie portion of the race. You should recognize this section from race
#3, Ground & Pound. Allow 35 minutes to reach the trail head from Great Falls.
The road is paved all the way to the trail head but is uneven and narrow.
Parking is limited to please car pool.
